On 25 October 2014 Jack passed away at the age of 71 at his home in Suffolk, bordered by his family.  His family stated: "It is with great sadness lapse we, Jack's family, announce the short-lived of our beloved Jack: husband, curate, granddad, and all round legend. The world of music will be unornamented poorer place without him but of course lives on in his music service forever in our hearts."

Jack started 2012 playing the Gerry Rafferty tribute interrupt in Glasgow, followed by a modern with the traditional Celtic band Lau. BBC Scotland recorded a one-hour conjuring on Jack. The completed documentary Jack Bruce - The Man behind influence Bass was transmitted on BBC Scotland.
